Side/Dining Room Chair Solutions: Mix & Match Ideas

For years, interior designers have set home design rules such as ways to measure and how to mix and match textures between chairs, wall art, carpeting and more. The one home design rule we love is "explore mixing styles".

According to My Domaine, when mixing styles, limit your color palette, pay attention to scale, and pick a unique theme. Kim Marie's in Asbury Park, New Jersey does an excellent job with these three things, having the most unique assortment of chairs in its outdoor seating section. The side chair, sometimes called a dining room chair, dining table chair, accent chair, or simply just a chairto our customers, is one piece of furniture that does not get enough attention. Guests will visit our Central, New Jersey furniture stores and give all the attention to a dining room table first before having a look at and testing out its chairs.

Sometimes we'll get asked if the chairs come with the table or if they could be changed and the answer varies on a collection-by-collectionbasis. You have a lot of choices! Mixing chairs are right for you when you want to do something different and explore your creativity. In addition, when you have a dining room table that is in good condition but chairs that have seen better days, you're in the perfect position to try something new by mixing and matching your dining room table chairs.

What works? Chair Mix and Match Ideas

As the rules suggest, picking at least some kind of theme to create consistency within your dining space is a good idea, but hey, rules are meant to be broken. Popular themes include: rustic, country, coastal (especially popular in Monmouth and Ocean County, NJ), and glam. Here are few suggestions on what we would mix and match. As an example, we would say it would be a bit "far out there" to do a glam chair with a coastal table. If you are going to wander away from the theme, you'll get more mix and match than you bargained for!
