5 Steps Toward a Home More Green Home

Help the enviroment and save money by making your home eco-friendly. Get started with these five steps.

1. Paint the interiors and exteriors of your home with eco-friendly paint. Some paint is loaded with volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that can pollute indoor and outdoor air. Paint professionals recommend utilizing natural or milk based paint on interior walls.

2. Purify air space with houseplants that improve indoor air quality. Speaking of those VOCs, in a recent study, NASA found that select houseplants filter out VOCs^*. Mother Nature Network recommends the following plants.

4. Update your windows. David Fisher, co-owner of Ace Home Improvements in New Jersey suggests equipping your home with double pane glass Energy Star Windows that have Low-E and Argon Gas.

'By putting the Low-E and Argon Gas in between the glass, it helps make the glass more energy efficient and will save you a lot of money on your heating and cooling bills,' he told us.
